About Us           

Because we care about how food is produced, the majority of Granny Macs produce is raised and nurtured by our own hands, on our smallholding fertile land. We therefore can and do, guarantee quality, vitality & freshness.

Above all, because we immediately convert our produce into delicious preserves to sell directly to you, Granny Macs prices are competitive and also very reasonable.

Where ever possible we also source and use produce that we do not grow, from North Yorkshire, which keeps the number of food miles low and supports local farmers.                                                                   

Hedgerow
Many of the hedgerow varieties that are included in our jellies and jams eg. elderflower, elderflower berries & blackberries are sourced from the local countryside, when the MacLellan family forage the small woods, coppices and spinneys to bring the best seasonal varieties home to Granny Mac.

Granny Mac
Agnes MacLellan (nee Murray) was born on Christmas Day, 1914, on Rothesay, Isle of Bute on a croft overlooked by the towering hills of Arran. Her mother taught her the art of preserve making whilst her Father James was away mining in Lanarkshire.

Agnes married Donald MacLellan and during the marriage gave birth to five children to whom the recipes were later passed. To this day a modern 'Granny Mac' exists, and is alive and well.

We at Granny Macs preserves cherish those recipes and are not only passionate about preserving the past in terms of producing preserves with superb, intense and delicious flavours, but by embracing the whole ethos of tradition and culinary heritage.

Additive/ preservative/gluten free
There are no additives, preservatives, colourings or setting agents in the majority of our preserves; just fruit, vegetables, sugar and spices. The list below provides information about our products which may contain allergens
